| OBJECTIVES The goal of the Power Hour is to improve a players' body mechanics (posture, knee bend, and balance) to allow for optimum stride, power and endurance. We will help you to create longer, more powerful strides, resulting in better speed and endurance. Specific areas that will be addressed in the Power Hour, include: ABCs (agility, balance and coordination) edge control first step quickness explosive acceleration (forward and backward) straight ahead speed stride efficiency (improved endurance) high speed turns and pivots agility and lateral movement crossovers (forward and backward) stopping Being a great skater without the puck, is much different than being an effective and efficient skater with the puck. So, the Plus Skills component will reinforce the above skating skills with the puck on your stick. You will be forced into controlling the puck, shooting, passing, deception and puck protection at low-, high- and over- speeds. |
