OBJECTIVES The goal of the Tech-Tact program is to build up your hockey sense using innovative and progressive drills. Each session will stress a particular tactical component of the game. We will break that component down into a successive series of technical skill refinement drills. Once the technical skills have been mastered, we will incorporate them into a functional drill. Each session will finish with a controlled 4-on-4 scrimmage. The TECHnical Instruction will focus on improving the fundamental skills of the game (skating, passing, shooting, puck handling). While the TACTical Instruction will build up your “hockey sense”; by teaching the concept of width, depth, space and time, as well as your offensive and defensive group tactics and read and react skills. The addition of the 4-on-4 small area controlled scrimmage will provide an opportunity to learn the game in a fun, creative and competitive atmosphere while reinforcing the skills of puck protection and puck possession and emphasizing the transitional nature of the game. This environment will force players to learn how to read and react to various offensive and defensive situations in small areas and at a higher intensity. Specific areas that will be addressed, include: creating open ice creating time and space presentation and timing providing pass support creating 2-on-1s breakouts neutral zone play and regrouping offensive zone entry offensive zone play including cycling, give-and-go, pick plays, using the space behind the net |
